Tid-Bits

The long vacation is finally in its last breath. Tomorrow it is back to the office. The weekend weather has been fabulous - the family and friends would have enjoyed it. It was so balmy today, especially, that folks were out wearing t-shirts.

It is back to the routine. Chinese class for the half man and 4 hours of tennis for the man. Somewhat less than 2 hours for moi but then I walked 12 laps around the tracks at Amador Valley High while the boy immersed in his mother tongue and the Man proved his worth against 2 opponents, single-handedly. In the kind of weather that is what makes California so desirable a place to live in. High relative costs of living aside.

Mundane has returned.

Then again, I just saw on TV that today commuters of public transit in Arizona, SF and Canada were riding in their underwear. Today it seems is no pants day. In freezing weather. And Thailand's new prime minister is so young and good looking. Speaks so well too - with an accent like a Singaporean. Drool...

Memories

So the vacation is over and the family and friends have departed for a sunny pimple in the tropics. Sigh. Seems like yesterday the half man and I were running round the SFO international terminal looking for some drinks and a bite to still our hunger while waiting for gugu and family to disembark. The times we spent together are all memories now. There will hopefully be more to come. We had a good time and it was fun while it lasted. Snowy, freezing and treacherously icy Big Bear, shopping at Gilroy and short sojourns into the City.

In a few days, it will be back to the grind at the office, working hard to achieve a vision that I had put together and got endorsement from the leaders. Wish me lots of luck.

A miracle happened while the family was here. I decline to elaborate because it is only mine and a very close confidante to share. It will be the turning point for me personally and maybe a few others near and dear.

YY should have tarried a while longer. It was gray and wet on the last day UJ and YY were here when we impulsively decided to take a very long and meandering drive up to Brentwood and managed to hit Antioch and Discovery Bay as well. The very next day, the sun was out cheerful and bright and the balmy weather has continued to this day and forecast is for a beautiful weekend. It would have been the best times to take a ride into the City or elsewhere or just play tennis. Coming back?

The tulip plant is growing very well with the blooms all opened and reaching out to the sunlight. It is the pride of the Japanese coffee table. The picture would have to wait till I find my missing camera. It was to have graced this post. Thank you very much YY. We treasure it very much.

The house is so quiet now. We miss the chatter, the patter and the general sounds of humans living in close quarters, eating, drinking, showering and doing the laundry. Till next year. Maybe sooner. Who knows...
